DETROIT – Attorneys for "White Boy Rick" Wershe are asking for his Florida sentence to be changed from consecutive to concurrent.

Wershe, who has been in prison in Michigan for almost 30 years for a juvenile drug offense, was granted parole last month. He still has a sentence in Florida, though, for his role in a car theft ring 11 years ago when he was behind bars.
Wershe is in Oaks Correctional Facility in northern Michigan. Florida officials have been told that if they want Wershe to do time in the state, they must come get him.
He said that if he ends up having to serve the sentence, he wants to get started as soon as possible.
I just want to get down there and get it over with. If I have to go, I have to go," he said. "I'm not going to avoid it. I just want to go get started, get settled in and get started doing the time."
Prosecutors will file a response to the request to modify the sentence, then a judge will decide if a hearing is appropriate or move straight to a decision.
Wershe is hoping the request will be decided before he is scheduled to go from Michigan to Florida.
