Labor Day drunk driving enforcement begins 🚓

Police around the state are encouraging motorists to celebrate the end of summer safely and make smart driving decisions. Law enforcement will continue to show zero tolerance for drunk and drugged driving during the three-week enforcement period Aug. 14 through Sept. 2.

DTE to power Comerica Park with green energy 🔋

DTE Energy is partnering with Comerica Park to power the stadium with renewable energy through its MIGreenPower program on Wednesday, including the evening home game between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners. 

Public visitation of L. Brooks Patterson in Troy

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday for longtime Oakland County executive L. Brooks Patterson, who died earlier this month. The visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodside Bible Church. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday. ClickOnDetroit will have full coverage.

Restored Woodward Avenue historical marker unveiled 🛣️

The restored historical marker for the first mile of concrete in the world will be unveiled Wednesday near Palmer Park in Detroit. The Woodward Ave M1 Palmer Park site set an example for how roads in America would be built in 1909. Wonder if it had a lot of potholes??

Today in history: Blackout hits Michigan, Northeast US 💡

On this day in 2003, a major outage knocked out power across the eastern United States and parts of Canada. Beginning at 4:10 p.m., 21 power plants shut down in just three minutes. Fifty million people were affected, including residents of New York, Cleveland and Detroit, as well as Toronto and Ottawa, Canada.
