Battle of the Bands in the 2017 America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit

Here are the Marching Bands in "America's Thanksgiving Parade." Voting starts at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and runs until 11 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26. You can vote once per hour during the contest.

 

The Woodhaven Warrior Marching Band

 

The Woodhaven Warrior Marching Band is the ambassador musical ensemble for the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District.  The marching band performs at home football games as well as many local marching band invitationals.

 

 

In addition to these performances, the band has performed at the Joe Louis Arena, Ford Field, Comerica Park, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Walt Disney World and many other venues.  The Woodhaven Bands are committed to creating students who are life long lovers and consumers of music.

Lorain High School “Titans” Marching Band

 

The Lorain High School “Titans” Marching Band is only in its seventh year of existence and moved into its new home last year with the completion of the 74-million-dollar building in Lorain, Ohio. The Band is made up of 135 student musicians, dance team members and flag corps members.

 

 

Previous performance events for the Band include the BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade in Chicago, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City, Walt Disney World in Orlando, local parades, band festivals and athletic contests throughout Northern Ohio. Director Timothy Sivik has chosen to perform “Jingle Bell Jam” for this year's parade.

Southgate Anderson Marching Band

 

This year marks the second year that the Southgate Anderson Marching Band has participated in America's Thanksgiving Parade. They report being extremely humbled and honored to have been selected for the parade. They cannot wait to perform for Detroit! Their group is composed of middle and high school aged students ranging from the ages of 12-18. This group has been widely successful over the past 15 years, placing in the top 12 in MCBA state finals for all of those years!

 

In the TV zone, they will be playing "Shut Up and Dance!" by Walk the Moon. You will also play their fight song, uptown funk, a holiday mix, and their cadence as the band parades down Woodward in Burgundy and Black uniforms!

Waterford Kettering

 

The Waterford Kettering Music Program was recently designated as a 2017 Support Music Merit Award recipient by the National Association of Music Merchandisers, placing them in the top 1% of high school music programs nationally.

 

For the parade, the Marching Captains are performing “Christmas Promenade,” an arrangement of holiday music arranged by Jay Dawson. The band is under the direction of Randall Scott Adkins & Todd Ross. The group is proud of their many awards and accomplishments over the years and are especially proud of current senior band member, Ian Lukas on Trombone, who was selected to perform this coming January as a member of the US Army All-American Marching Band in San Antonio, Texas. There are only 125 musicians in this all-star national marching band, and Ian is only 1 of 4 Michigan students that were selected.

Hunters Lane

 

Hunters Lane High School Marching Band will be coming all the way from Nashville to battle it out at this year's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit.

 

Dakota High School

Dakota High School band is ready to go head to head with the bands at America's Thanksgiving Parade this year. The band has a total of 190 students. They will be performing Soul Bossa Nova!

Belleville High School

Belleville High School Marching Band will be performing for the "America's Thanksgiving Parade."

Cadillac High School

The Cadillac Marching Vikings, from Cadillac, MI, are in their 90th year.  The band was founded in 1927, with funding from the Cadillac Rotary Club. 

In the 90 years since, the band has been performing for hometown crowds with tremendous support.  The band has also made 6 appearances at Disney World, and this will be their 3 appearance in America’s Thanksgiving Parade.  In the past 30 years, the Marching Vikings have received Marching Festival First Division ratings 28 times.

This year’s group, performing music from the Blues Brothers again received a First Division, hosted a marching exhibition that included 18 High School bands plus Alma College, and the band completed their field show season marching for a Hope College Football Game.  The Marching Vikings are known for their high energy shows, with the audience in mind with every move and every note.

The band will be performing "Soul Man." 

Carlson High School

The Marching Marauder band is 155 members strong -- the largest to date under the tenure of Band Director David Brockington.  The band has performed on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier in New York City, as well as in Toronto and in Chicago! 

 

They are known for serving Deep Fried Oreos at their Spectacular Band Invitational.  And for their relentlessly positive attitude! They will be playing "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift.

Chippewa Valley High School

Chippewa Valley High School Marching band will be performing at the parade and battling it out with the bands!

Detroit Public School Community District All City Marching Band

Detroit Public School Community District All City Marching Band is ready to show up and show out at this year's "America's Thanksgiving Parade."

St. Clair Marching Saints

St. Clair High School Marching Saints are ready to perform at this year's "America's Thanksgiving Parade.
