DETROIT – Detroit Waza Flo professional will not have to face the winter chill this weekend, but will face the Blast and Heat.

The team will travel to Maryland to face the Baltimore Blast on Friday night, then turnaround to play -- for the second time this season -- the Harrisburg Heat on Saturday in Pennsylvania.

"This weekend will be one of the biggest challenges for us in a long time," said Waza Flo owner Dominic Scicluna. "We will be waking up 5:30-6 a.m. to leave at 7 a.m. and driving that many hours in the bus to then get off and play against Baltimore Blast, one of the toughest teams in the league. We have a few injuries and the guys that coach the youth have a hard time traveling. We will come out with as much skill and fighting spirit as we are capable of this weekend. It will be a true test of my team's character!"

Coach Costea Decu's team will have to face the Blast without Scicluna, their passionate leader, as he is out with the red card from last weekend's loss to Rochester. The team, however, has proven they have many veterans who step up along with the rest of the bench who showed against the Lancers -- in thrilling fashion -- that they are not to be counted out, even up to the very last second of play.

Decu received MASL Team of the Week honors in the first week of the league's inaugural season. This was after the youthful 43-year-old's impressive contribution in the 8-4 win against Harrisburg.

Waza Flo have provided some relief for the weekend. They have a new signing who hopefully will help propel the team back into 1st place in the Eastern Division.

Chris Williams, a former Baltimore Blast player and former MISL PA Roar Captain, has signed with the Waza Flo team. He will make his debut Friday against his former Blast team.

Williams, a defender, was a part of the 2013 championship Baltimore team and even provided the game-winning assist. His had 4 goals, 5 assists, 30 blocks (which were 2nd in the league) in 2014.

In the summer, Williams passed on offers from Sweden and Australia as well as USL and NASL teams to be able to build on his coaching academy. His love of the game, however, and this opportunity presented to him by Scicluna was too hard to pass up -- much to Waza Flo's delight.

The Blast (1-0-0) currently are in 1st place but with one less game played than Waza. Their win was a whopper of 16-7 over the Syracuse Silver Knights last weekend. Detroit sits in 3rd place with a 1-1-0 record. Harrisburg has played one game -- their loss to Waza Flo.

Detroit is riding on a lot of emotions and adrenaline still from last week's game. The team will capitalize on bonding and get pumped up during the long trip and, with Williams help, show Baltimore and Harrisburg that they can withstand the pressure and the heat!

The first match is against the Blast at 7:35 p.m. Friday at the Royal Farms Arena. Waza Flo will match up against the 4th place Harrisburg Heat at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Farm Show arena.

The next home game for Waza Flo will be Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the Milwaukee Wave.
