DETROIT – A BACtrack Comsumption Report study has listed fans of the Detroit Lions as the second-drunkest fans in the NFL, behind only the Buffalo Bills.
It's not hard to imagine why. Just one year after emerging from the depths of irrelevance to win 11 games, the Lions are right back in the league's cellar, heading into the bye week with an abysmal 1-7 record. Detroit is well on its way to an eye-popping 13th losing season in the last 15 years -- highlighted by the worst campaign in professional sports history: The 0-16 season in 2008. It will likely mark the team's 11th double-digit loss season in that span.

On second thought, it's a surprise Bills fans drink more. Maybe they should build a dome.
The study examined average blood alcohol content levels of fans by team affiliation for Sunday games from pre-season through Oct. 26 (Detroit was 1-6 at the time). It used Twitter's map of NFL fan allegiance in order to match BAC results with NFL teams across the country.
You can take a look at which fans drink the most on game days in the chart below:
36238348
As you can see, Lions fans' BAC checked in just under the legal limit at 0.069 percent.
But wait! The study also found that average BAC did not correlate with a team's win-loss record. Cincinnati Bengals (6-0) fans were found to drink nearly as much as Tennessee Titans (1-5) fans.
If it's not because of cold weather, and it's not because of the team's record, then why do Lions fans drink so much? We might never know.
Results: Lions have second drunkest fans in NFL
As for this weekend, the Lions are on a bye, so fans will have to find something else to celebrate.
