ANN ARBOR, Mich. – New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is suspended for the first four games of the 2016 NFL season, but that doesn't mean that he'll be away from the football field for the entire month of September.
Brady will serve as an honorary captain for Michigan in its Sept. 17 game vs. Colorado in Ann Arbor, Jim Harbaugh announced Wednesday. The former Wolverines quarterback played 29 games in his college career, completing 61.9 percent of his passes for 4,773 yards, 30 touchdowns and 17 picks.

He has since gone on to win four Super Bowl championships, three Super Bowl MVPs and two NFL MVPs with the New England Patriots. He's also been elected to 11 Pro Bowls.
After being absent from the Michigan program for several years, Brady appeared in a pregame hype video during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Since then, Brady has reinserted himself into the Michigan football family, attending Harbaugh's "Signing with the Stars" event on National Signing Day and now agreeing to serve as an honorary captain during his suspension.
As one of the school's most recognizable alumni, Brady is sure to get a loud ovation from more than 100,000 fans before kickoff.
Michigan previously announced Michael Jordan as an honorary captain Saturday against Hawaii and Hank Aaron as an honorary captain before the homecoming game against Illinois.
Rich Eisen will be an honorary captain Sept. 10 against Central Florida.

The Wolverines open the season at noon Saturday against Hawaii.
