DETROIT – Detroit Tigers' second baseman Ian Kinsler has been named a 2016 Gold Glove winner, the team announced Tuesday.
It's the first time Kinsler has won a Gold Glove in his 11-year career. Kinsler is the first Tigers second baseman to win a Gold Glove since Placido Polanco in 2009.

Kinsler finished the season with only nine errors in 151 games. His fielding percentage is .988. He tied with Boston's Dustin Pedroia for most defensive runs saved (12) and posted one of the league's best zone ratings.
Kinsler beat out Pedroia and Seattle veteran Robinson Cano to win the award.
