DETROIT – The Big Ten issued a public reprimand Monday of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh for violating the Big Ten sportsmanship policy after Michigan's loss to Ohio State.

The conference also announced a $10,000 fine against the University of Michigan as a result of Harbaugh's violation.

According to the Big Ten, Harbaugh's postgame comments about referees violated Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01, which says: "The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of competition, civility toward all and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials."

The Big Ten said it considers the matter "concluded" and said it will have no further comment.
