TSN's Bob McKenzie reports the deal is worth more than $9 million.

The Red Wings waisted no time to sign Daley after the NHL's free agency opened at noon Saturday.

The veteran defenseman is known for his strong puck movement and offensive contributions. The Pittsburgh Penguins picked him up from the Chicago Blackhawks before the trade deadline in December 2015. He helped them on their Stanley Cup quest, then helped them repeat the championship this year.

Daley suffered a serious knee injury in February but returned to play in April, just in time to get in shape for another playoff run with the Penguins. He contributed 5 points in 21 playoff games.
