16-year-old Quincy Green wins 4Frenzy’s Favorite Linebacker in Local 4′s Fall Fan Choice Awards. The 11th grader was very excited to win the award.
"I believe I am the favorite linebacker because of what I can do and I also like joking around with my teammates and coaches at practice," says Green.
Green began his football career around the age of nine. He took an easy liking to the sport and quickly adapted to being on the field. When it comes to what he loves most about football, Quincy says, “I love showing what I can do and also love tackling people.”
His high school football career began at Cass Technical High School, but eventually Green transferred to L’Anse in hopes of a better curriculum and more playtime on the field. “I really haven’t been able get any awards [for Football] because I had to sit out a year because of my transfer,” says Green. However, getting awards, acknowledgements, and having recruiters watch him is the goal between now and his senior year.
Since his transfer, Green has been able to bond and establish a relationship with his new team, and he says he really enjoys being a part of it. "What I like most about my team is that we always compete," he says. "We have a new coach named coach Roy, and he really changed us, and his coaching is very good."
Green also says that his new coach lead them to the playoffs, which was a big success for him and his team. “Last time we were in the playoffs was 2003,” says Green. “All around we are just a great team, and we also have a whole lot of talent on the teaml.”
