Surprise 2018 men's Olympic luge champion David Gleirscher took silver in the men's sprint competition at the 2020 World Championships, then won bronze medals in both the singles and sprint contest at 2021 Worlds.

American Chris Mazdzer, who became the first U.S. men's singles luge medalist ever with silver in PyeongChang, dealt with a neck injury at the 2019 World Championships and only competed in doubles and the team relay. He took bronze in the mixed team event at the 2020 World Championships. At the 2021 World Championships, he finished 10th in singles, his best singles finish since he was fourth in 2016. In late September, however, he broke his foot at a USA Luge national team training camp, putting his status for the Beijing Games in question.
Johannes Ludwig, the 2018 men's singles bronze medalist, is also still active. His most recent major medal was silver at the 2021 European Championships.
Women's singles gold medalist Natalie Geisenberger has remained at the top of the sport since PyeongChang, picking up four World Championships medals. That includes gold in singles and the sprint competition and bronze in the team relay in 2019, and silver in singles in 2021. Her German teammate Dajana Eitberger, the 2018 silver medalist, has added up three Worlds medals: bronze in the sprint event in 2019 and 2021, and bronze in singles in 2021.
In doubles, two-time men's gold medalists Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt are still competing together. The duo took silver in doubles at the 2019 and 2021 World Championships, and bronze in 2020. They also picked up silver in the 2019 Worlds doubles sprint contest and gold again in the event in 2021, after a sprint bronze in 2020.
Germans Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken are also still at it, taking gold in doubles at the 2019, 2020 and 2021 World Championships. They also won the doubles sprint contest in 2019 and 2021.
Who's Gone
Women's singles silver medalist Alex Gough, of Canada, retired in December 2018.
Peter Penz and Georg Fischler, the silver medal-wining men's doubles team, retired from competition in August 2018.
