DETROIT – Michigan State’s football game against Penn State at the end of the 2023 regular season will be played at Ford Field the day after Thanksgiving.
Michigan State made the announcement at noon Wednesday, May 24, on the football team’s official Twitter page.
The Spartans and Nittany Lions were originally scheduled to play their annual rivalry game in East Lansing on Nov. 25. Instead, Michigan State will host the game at Ford Field.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.

Mel Tucker is coming off a difficult third season with the Spartans, finishing 5-7 overall and 3-6 in Big Ten play. He’s already shown an ability to bounce back quickly, though, winning 11 games in 2022 after a rough COVID-shortened 2021.
Michigan State is looking at a grueling schedule this year, with three opponents expected to be ranked in the preseason top 10 (Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State), a home game against Heisman candidate Michael Penix and Washington, and a Big Ten crossover game at Iowa.
