DETROIT – Dan Campbell provided an update on the injuries to David Montgomery, Frank Ragnow, and Jonah Jackson as the Detroit Lions prepare to play the Los Angeles Charges this weekend.
On Monday, Campbell was asked how the trio of injured starters are doing after the bye week. His update seemed optimistic.
“All three of those guys moved around today, “Campbell said. “They were out there. Today was really more priming the pump, get them ready for tomorrow. But we did some individual, some group, did a special teams segment, and they were all involved -- all three of those guys.”
Campbell was asked if that means there’s hope for them to play this weekend against the Chargers.
“Yeah, I think so,” Campbell said. “We’ll see tomorrow when we pad them up, but they’ve been trending the right way now for awhile, so certainly hopeful.”
The Lions were without all three players during their win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football last week. Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs ran for rushed for 152 yards in Montgomery’s absence.
Meanwhile, the offensive line has dealt with a rash of injuries all season, and would love to have both Ragnow and Jackson back on the interior.
Detroit has found a way to survive injuries on both sides of the ball and jump out to a 6-2 record. The lead over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North has shrunk to 1.5 games, though, so it would help to get healthy.
