8 players remain on practice injury report for Detroit Lions 3 days before Vikings game

DETROIT – Eight players remain on the practice injury report for the Detroit Lions with three days until their first chance to clinch the division title against the Vikings.

When the Lions released their updated practice report Thursday, it included the same eight players as Wednesday’s report, but there are a few updates.

Here’s Thursday’s practice report:

  • Center Frank Ragnow -- no practice (knee/back/toe).
  • Cornerback Jerry Jacobs -- no practice (hamstring).
  • Tight end Brock Wright -- no practice (hip).
  • Linebacker Derrick Barnes -- limited practice (shoulder).
  • Fullback Jason Cabinda -- limited practice (knee).
  • Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson -- limited practice (pectoral).
  • Defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike -- full practice (knee).
  • Right tackle Penei Sewell -- full practice (shoulder).

It’s not unusual for Ragnow to take one practice day off to rest a chronic toe issue. Since he was full participant Wednesday and no reports of a new injury have surfaced, this is probably just a routine maintenance day.

Sewell and Onwuzurike returned to a full practice Thursday after being limited on Wednesday.

Cabinda and Gardner-Johnson just returned to practice this week from the reserve/injured list. It’s unclear how soon they’ll be activated for a game.

Barnes was limited for a second-straight day, but no information about a serious injury has been reported.

Jacobs and Wright are the two most concerning inclusions because this is the second day in a row that they didn’t practice at all. They’ll be names to watch when Friday’s report comes out.

If the Lions win Sunday’s game in Minneapolis, they will lock up their first-ever NFC North Division title. A loss would make the final two weeks much more stressful as the number of clinching opportunities dwindle.
