DETROIT – The kickoff time for the final Detroit Lions game of the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings has officially been determined.
With Week 17 in the books, the NFL announced kickoff times for all of next weekend’s games. The Lions-Vikings rematch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Ford Field.
This game lost quite a bit of sizzle when the Lions’ game-winning two-point conversion was erased Saturday due to what appears to have been an officiating error. Instead of playing for the No. 2 seed in the NFC this weekend, the Lions are probably going to end up with the No. 3 seed whether they win or lose.
Minnesota also suffered a costly loss, getting blown out by the Packers at home on Sunday night. The Vikings aren’t yet eliminated from playoff contention, but they need a lot of help even if they can beat the Lions.
The San Francisco 49ers have locked up the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC, and the Lions need the Cowboys to lose to the Commanders to have any chance of moving up to No. 2.
Right now, the No. 6 seed belongs to Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, so it appears the first round of the playoffs could bring a very familiar face back to Ford Field.
