DETROIT – In a season that brought the Detroit Lions their first division title in decades, it’s no surprise that they’ll be very well represented at the Pro Bowl.

The Lions announced Wednesday that they will send five players and seven alternates to the Pro Bowl.

Aidan Hutchinson, Penei Sewell, Frank Ragnow, Sam LaPorta, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin were selected for the Pro Bowl, while Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Jonah Jackson, Alex Anzalone, Jared Goff, and Kalif Raymond have been named alternates.

Gibbs and St. Brown are first alternates, Goff is a second alternate, Jackson is a third alternate, Montgomery and Raymond are fourth alternates, and Anzalone is a fifth alternate.

Hutchinson leads the Lions with 9.5 sacks this season. He’s racked up 11 tackles for loss, seven passes defended, 32 solo tackles, and 47 total tackles.

Sewell and Ragnow are the most talented members of Detroit’s elite offensive line. The Lions rank fifth in the NFL in yards per rush attempt (4.7) and have allowed the fourth-fewest sacks (30).

LaPorta has been a rookie revelation for Detroit, catching 81 passes for 860 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s the team’s second-leading receiver behind St. Brown, who has 112 catches for 1,371 yards and nine scores.

Gibbs and Montgomery have been an unfair combination out of the backfield, combining for 1,890 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns on 378 carries (5 yards per carry). Gibbs also has 52 catches for 316 yards and a score.

Goff has completed 67% of his pass attempts for an average of 7.4 yards. In total, he’s thrown for 4,255 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 picks in the first 16 games.

Reeves-Maybin has been a special teams star for Detroit, converting on a number of trick plays. His most recent came in the close loss to Dallas, but the most memorable came against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Lions’ first win of the season.

When Anzalone missed time due to injury, Reeves-Maybin stepped into a more prominent role at linebacker and held his own.

Anzalone leads Detroit with 77 total tackles and 120 total tackles this season. He also has three sacks, seven tackles for loss, and six passes defended.

Raymond has returned 25 punts for 242 yards this season -- an average of 9.7 yards. He also has 33 catches for 439 yards, good for fourth on the team.
