DETROIT – The Detroit Lions will host a second-round playoff game next weekend after beating the Rams at Ford Field.
Fans in Detroit waited 30 years to host a playoff game, and they’ll only need to wait seven days for the next one, as the Lions will play the Buccaneers at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The kickoff time was announced shortly after Detroit’s 24-23 victory over Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.
Ford Field will get its second playoff game of the postseason thanks to the Packers’ upset win over the Cowboys. Dallas was the No. 2 seed in the NFC and would have hosted the Lions in the divisional round.
But since Green Bay pulled off the upset, it earned the right to travel to San Francisco next week to play the No. 1 49ers. That leaves the No. 3 Lions to host No. 4 Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers got to the divisional round by beating the Eagles at home on Monday Night Football.
Detroit’s divisional round game will be broadcast on Local 4 News.
