DETROIT – To say the University of Detroit Mercy men’s basketball season has been a disappointment would be a massive understatement.

The Titans have somehow skated through their first 26 games without a win. That’s right. They’re 0-26, and they have five regular season games left.

It’s a rarity for a college basketball team to go winless. It doesn’t happen very often. Some of the only winless teams were back in the 1930s, when teams only played 17-20 games.

But all of that historical misery could end on Wednesday night, with Detroit facing IUPUI, the second-worst team in the Horizon League. The Titans are 5.5 point favorites to win, which is wild, considering IUPUI has won six games this year -- six more than Detroit Mercy.

UDM lost to IUPUI in December, a 12-point margin of victory. IUPUI has lost six straight games entering this pivotal matchup.

The game tips at 7 p.m. at Calihan Hall.

Mississippi Valley State is also winless this year. There could be two winless teams in college basketball this season.
