Feel the Bern: What should we expect from the Tigers this season?

DETROIT – It’s the time of year that you realize winter is almost behind us, and it’s time to look ahead to spring.

That’s because spring training has begun in Lakeland for the Tigers. Pitchers and catchers have been there for a week.

Monday, the full squad reported, which means they will be rocking and rolling shortly.

What do we expect from the Tigers this season?

Team president Scott Harris has said he built this team for this season in a different way. The Tigers hitters are young, and Harris says there’s a period of adjustment. So, he brought in several pitchers to help prop up the lineup in case there are issues with scoring runs.

Two years ago, the Tigers lost 96 games, and it appeared they were light years away from being good. But last season, they finished 2nd in the Central and were just 6 games under .500.

If they can make that kind of improvement this season, there might be a real story to tell. But you’ve got to think that’s at least a year away. Hey... at least it’s not light years!
