Report: Detroit Lions bolster defense by adding Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis

Davis accumulated 7 solo tackles in the 31-23 defeat against Detroit in NFC Divisional Round

DETROIT – According to the latest update from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have strategically bolstered their defense by acquiring talented cornerback Carlton Davis from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick.

In addition to Davis, the Lions will also receive the Buccaneers’ 2024 and 2025 sixth-round picks, adding significant value to the trade.

The veteran cornerback is owed $14 million this year, but with a trade usually comes some sort of renegotiation.

During the 2023 season, Davis started in 12 games for the playoff-bound Buccaneers as he totaled 52 tackles with 40 solos, 12 assisted tackles, nine pass deflections, and two interceptions.

His talents were on full display inside Ford Field during the NFC Divisional Round as he accumulated seven solo tackles in the 31-23 defeat against the Lions.
