Division 1
West Bloomfield 60, Grand Blanc 30 — Led by Indya and Summer Davis, twin sisters who will play in college for Georgia, West Bloomfield won its second state title in three years. The Lakers jumped out to a 15-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. In reality, the de facto state championship game was a semifinal on Friday between No. 1 West Bloomfield and No. 2 Rockford, which beat West Bloomfield in last year’s title game. Rockford appeared headed for victory again, but Indya Davis banked in a game-tying 3-pointer just before the buzzer sounded to end regulation and force overtime. West Bloomfield prevailed in overtime, 55-47, and had little trouble with Grand Blanc. Summer Davis scored 14 points to lead West Bloomfield in the final.
Division 2
Detroit Edison 41, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 33 — Edison won its fifth state title in 10 years and the second in the last three years, in the process handing Gabriel Richard its only defeat of the season. Isis Johnson-Musah led the Pioneers with 16 points. Edison finished the game on a 7-0 run over the final five minutes after Gabriel Richard cut its deficit to one point.
Division 3
Ypsilanti Arbor Prep 33, Niles Brandywine 30 — Teams winning their second state title in three years certainly was the prominent theme of Saturday, as Arbor Prep joined West Bloomfield and Edison in doing that. It was a defensive struggle, but Arbor Prep held on despite shooting just 2 of 19 from 3-point range.
Division 4
Ishpmeming 73, Kinsgston 54 — Ranked No. 1 in the state most of the year, a powerful Ishpeming squad — which resides west of Marquette in the Upper Peninsula — showed why it might have made the final four in any of the other divisions. Ishpeming won its first state title in school history behind 27 points from sophomore Jenessa Eagle and 24 points from senior Jenna Maki. Ishpeming became the first school from the UP to win a state title since 2015.
