DETROIT – The Detroit Lions have made Penei Sewell the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL with a massive new extension, per reports.
Mike Garafolo, of NFL Network, reports that Sewell has agreed to a four-year extension worth $112 million. It comes with $85 million guaranteed and makes him the new high-paid O-lineman in the league, Garafolo reports.
Sewell has spent most of his time at right tackle for the Lions since they drafted him No. 7 overall in the first round in 2021. He was the first selection made by general manager Brad Holmes after he took over the organization.
Since that draft, Sewell has consistently graded out as one of the most valuable players in the league. Now, he’s guaranteed to be the anchor of Detroit’s offensive line into the future.
This extension was announced just hours after the Lions locked up wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, making him the highest-paid player at his own position.
