Former Michigan State and Detroit Pistons star Greg Kelser is hosting his annual basketball camps for young athletes this July.

Players are divided into groups based on age and skill level. They’ll work on shooting, ball handling, footwork, and defensive strategies and apply those skills to full-court games.

The camps also offer educational insight, something that’s reflected in Kelser’s mission statement.

“Our camps are designed to improve individual basketball fundamentals while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship,” the mission statement reads. “We also stress daily the importance of a sound education as a means of achieving one’s goals.”

Special guests will also drop in throughout the week to inspire and educate campers about diverse career opportunities. Guests can include current players, former players, and other professionals in fields like business, medicine, and education.

The three July camps are for children ages 7-17 and cost $250 per player.

  • July 15-19 at West Bloomfield High School.
  • July 22-26 at Southfield A&T High School.
  • July 22-26 at United Wholesale Mortgage Sports Complex.
