ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Three crucial players for the Detroit Lions’ Super Bowl dreams left practice Monday with injuries.
Multiple NFL insiders have reported that running back Jahmyr Gibbs and cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. left practice.
The Lions have not announced the severity of the injuries, but reports suggest Gibbs is dealing with a hamstring issue and Rakestraw has a bad ankle. Arnold is listed with an unspecified “upper body” injury.
Gibbs enjoyed a breakout rookie season in 2023, rushing for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns on 182 carries while catching 52 passes for 316 more yards.
Gibbs is a critical cog in the lethal Lions offense, which is built around the offensive line and an ability to establish the run. He and David Montgomery formed one of the top running back duos in the NFL last season.
Arnold was the team’s first-round draft pick (No. 24 overall) this offseason, and the Lions took Rakestraw in the second (No. 61 overall).
Cornerback was a major weakness for last season, and the Lions invested heavily during the draft to try to address it.
