The former first-team All-American pass catcher out of Penn State in 2013 has fallen on hard times during his NFL career recently but looks to regain his footing for his hometown team.

Robinson II was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, but he made his name in the NFC North with the Chicago Bears, where he dominated the position and the division from 2018 to 2021.

The 6′2″, 220 Pro Bowl receiver is another big body added to the Lions depth chart in as many days as Tim Patrick signed also on Tuesday (Aug. 27).

Robinson left the division for greener pastures and replaced superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr., with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, but he and former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford couldn’t find the right connection.

He was shipped out to Pittsburgh to play alongside up-and-coming wideout George Pickens with the Steelers in 2023 but quarterback play was abysmal.

He spent last season with the New York Giants, but his quarterback play was subpar.

Robinson II has caught 562 passes for 7,028 yards and 43 touchdowns for his career.

During the preseason with the Giants, Robinson II snagged three receptions for 23 yards and one carry for 10 yards before getting cut Tuesday.

According to ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Lions have resigned former Michigan Wolverines receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to the practice squad to bolster the receiving room.
