ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A former Michigan football star is set to face charges for strangulation and drugs, according to ESPN.
Jabrill Peppers, who played at Michigan from 2014-2016, was arrested over the weekend and is set to face charges in Braintree, Massachusetts, the report says.
Peppers is a safety for the New England Patriots, but he didn’t play in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.
“We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating,” the Patriots said in a statement, per Ian Rapoport. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
ESPN reports that police went to a disturbance at Peppers’ home early Saturday morning. He is expected to be charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a substance believed to be cocaine.
