DETROIT – The Detroit Lions called out the Cowboys' stadium for a hilariously bad tweet following Sunday’s blowout.
The Lions avenged last season’s controversial loss at AT&T Stadium by demolishing the Cowboys, 47-9, over the weekend.
Detroit scored on all nine drives with its starting offense, and the only time the Cowboys got to the end zone was when they were throwing interceptions to Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph.
It was as thorough a trouncing as you’ll ever see in the NFL. It felt personal. The Lions even tried over and over to complete a pass to an offensive lineman -- an obvious response to how last year’s game ended.
After the game, the official X account for AT&T Stadium posted a picture to show that there were 93,644 fans in attendance. But if you look a little closer, you can see the numbers on the scoreboard were intentionally blurred out.
Huge mistake. Best to just own it. Or better yet: Choose a photo that doesn’t show the scoreboard. This is X we’re talking about.
Predictably, the internet ambushed the tweet. Nearly every reply in the comments section had something to do with the score. It’s objectively hilarious, and I can’t believe they didn’t know that this is exactly what would happen.
The Lions' social media team -- never one to miss out on the fun -- chimed in about three hours after the post.
“Is it us or is the scoreboard a little blurry?” the Lions posted.
Yeah, I think the Lions are going to bask in the glow of this one for awhile. They danced all over Dallas' grave in the second half, so there’s no reason to expect it’ll stop in the aftermath.
