GREEN BAY, Wis. – A Detroit Lions standout joined a Pro Football Hall of Fame superstar after he reached a career milestone during the 24-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

With Sunday’s (Nov. 2) game at 10-3 and only 45 seconds remaining before halftime, Packers quarter Jordan Love, while trying to elude a sack from linebacker Alex Anzalone, threw an ill-advised pass toward running back Josh Jacobs.

The pass was intercepted by Lions safety Kerby Joseph for a pick-six, which all but sealed the game.

With the interception, Joseph became the first safety to accumulate at least 14 interceptions through three career seasons since Baltimore Ravens Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed did it from 2002-2004.

The former Illinois Fighting Illini became the first Lions player to record a pick-six against the Packers since 2000 when free safety Lamar Campbell made the house call against Brett Favre.

Joseph also became the first Lions player to record a pick-six in Green Bay since 1979 when defensive back Walt Williams made the house call on David Whitehurst.

The three-year veteran is also the first Lions safety to record a pick-six at Green Bay since at least the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.

He also is the only Lions player to accumulate four or more interceptions and a pick-six against the Packers since 1940, joining:

  • Lem Barney (1967-77)
  • Jack Christiansen (1951-58)
  • Bob Smith (1950-53)

Including the postseason, from 1992-2021, the Lions were 3-25 at Lambeau Field.

Prior to their victory, the Lions had won the last two matchups against the Packers but had not won three consecutive since 1986-1991.

Joseph finished the day with four solo tackles, one pass deflection, and one interception.

But Joseph’s momentum-shattering play helped the Lions win their third straight game against the Packers, extending their season-long win streak to six consecutive wins while improving to 7-1 in the season.

Look for Joseph and the Lions to stay hot next week as they’ll travel to Houston to take on C.J. Stroud and the Texans on Sunday Night Football.
