DETROIT – The Detroit Lions extended their winning streak to eight after taking down the Jacksonville Jaguars 52-6, thanks to Jared Goff and the running back duo of Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles.
Goff had a career day, but running back David Montgomery (Knuckles) got the game rolling as he and the Lions opened the game with a two-yard touchdown, capping off a nine-play 73-yard drive.

Backfield mate Jahmyr Gibbs (Sonic) joined the party on a one-yard touchdown, capping off a 13-play 93-yard drive to take a 14-3 lead.
As the old saying goes, “If some is good, then more is better,” as Montgomery capped off an eight-play 64-yard drive for his second touchdown of the first half.
Sunday’s (Nov. 17) victory was historic. It was the first time the Lions, who are 9-1 on the season, had reached nine wins through their first ten games since 1934.
So far, through 10 games, Montgomery and Gibbs have combined for over 700 yards and eight touchdowns each. It is the first time a running back duo has achieved such success in a team’s first 10 games since Clevland Browns duo Jim Brown and Bobby Mitchell did it in 1959.
Montgomery and Gibbs also joined the Green Bay Packers duo of Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor in having eight touchdowns apiece through the team’s first ten games since 1960.
After forcing another punt from the Jaguars, Gibbs almost made another house call as he made a catch-and-run of 54 yards, setting up an Amon-Ra St. Brown 27-yard touchdown catch from Goff to take a 28-3 lead first-half lead.
The touchdown reception was St. Brown’s eighth consecutive game to achieve such success, the longest single-season streak in team history.
The Lions opened the second half with a Jameson Williams 63-yard catch and ran for six to extend the score to 35-6 while impersonating Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch as he crossed the goal line.
Goff eclipsed the 300-yard mark with 11:03 to play in the third quarter with the throw. So it was safe to say that he shook off the rust displayed during Sunday Night Football.
Williams returned on the next drive and snagged a 22-yard reception to lead the Lions to another touchdown pass from Goff, but this time to tight end Brock Wright, who was wide open in the back of the endzone.
The Lions' scoring drive was their sixth touchdown of the day on six possessions, and they took a 42-6 lead.
After a Kerby Joseph interception, Gibbs busted open another big run to start the drive with a 16-yard run. He followed that up with another seven-yard gain, which set up St. Brown’s 23-yard catch-and-run to end the third quarter.
At the start of the fourth, Goff went 21-26 for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
Goff connected with St. Brown for his fourth touchdown of the day, and it was curtains for the Lions' starters as they went up 49-6.
That last drive by the Lions joined them with the 2007 New England Patriots, the last team to score a touchdown in their first seven possessions to start a game.
Goff finished the day completing 24-29 passes for a season-high 412 yards and four touchdowns.
St. Brown snagged 11 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
Montgomery rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns, while Gibbs rushed 11 times for 69 yards.
As a team, the Lions starters left the game in the fourth quarter, accumulating 588 total offensive yards. They ended the game with 645 yards, the ninth most by a team in NFL history.
The Lions defense held the Jags to six points and only 169 total yards, helping them improve to 9-1 on the season.
Detroit will take on the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.
