DETROIT – For the first time in the history of the franchise, the Detroit Lions are the official favorites to win the Super Bowl.

It’s incredible what a great front office and coaching staff can do. A little more than two years ago, the Lions were off to a 1-6 start coming off a 3-13-1 season.

Now, they’re 9-1 after a 52-6 beatdown of the Jaguars and the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl.

The Lions are infamously one of four franchises -- along with the Browns, Jaguars, and Texans -- to never even make a Super Bowl appearance. And while the others have had glimmers of hope in recent years, the Lions just last year finally won their first division title in the NFC North era.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs lost after a 9-0 start, dropping them into a tie with the Lions for the best record in the league. That doesn’t really matter to the Lions, but it matters to oddsmakers.

The experts don’t like the back-to-back defending champs as much as Detroit, which has ripped off eight straight victories in consistently dominant fashion.

This weekend against the Jaguars, the Lions posted the largest margin of victory in team history and finished with 645 total yards and 38 first downs -- both franchise records.

It’s pretty clear that this is the best team Detroit has had in the Super Bowl era.

As of Monday morning, the Lions are the favorites to win the Super Bowl at +420. That means if you bet $100 on the Lions to win it all, you’d win $420 if it happens.

Here are the other favorites (per FanDuel):

  1. Detroit Lions (+420).
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (+500).
  3. Baltimore Ravens (+650).
  4. Buffalo Bills (+700).
  5. Philadelphia Eagles (+900).
  6. San Francisco 49ers (+1400).
  7. Green Bay Packers (+1900).
  8. Houston Texans (+2000).
  9. Pittsburgh Steelers (+2100).
  10. Minnesota Vikings (+2300).
  11. Los Angeles Chargers (+2400).
  12. Washington Commanders (+3800).

This is the first time the Lions have been the betting favorites to win it all. And boy, does the fan base deserve it.
