ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan football’s star kicker announced Tuesday that he’s going to return for one more season.
Dominic Zvada transferred to Michigan last offseason after spending his first two seasons at Arkansas State.
He was one of the best kickers in the nation while wearing the Maize and Blue, making 17 of 18 field goal attempts, including a perfect 7-for-7 from longer than 50 yards.
Zvada ended his season with a game-winning field goal in the final minute against Ohio State in Columbus. He also nailed a 54-yarder in that game, which featured a pair of missed kicks from his Buckeye counterpart.
Zvada likely could have entered the NFL draft as the top kicking prospect after Michigan’s ReliaQuest Bowl matchup against Alabama, but instead, he decided to return for one more season.
“Let’s go win a national championship,” Zvada tweeted.
They don’t usually get much love, but Michigan has enjoyed an incredible stretch of kickers, starting with Jake Moody and continuing with James Turner and Zvada.
As we saw in the Ohio State game, kickers can make a huge difference. And Michigan will have one of the best again next year.
