DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers have revealed their starting lineup for Opening Day at Comerica Park.

The Tigers already started the regular season out West and played three games each against the Dodgers and Mariners. But it’s always a special day when baseball officially returns to Downtown Detroit, even when it’s Game 7.

Despite the 2-4 record, the Tigers are technically tied for first place with the Royals and Guardians.

And the Chicago White Sox. That’s who’s in town for this weekend’s series. Last year, the White Sox finished with the worst record in MLB history, but they’re expected to improve in 2025.

Last time they were in town, the White Sox had to watch the Tigers celebrate their first playoff-clinching victory in a decade.

Jack Flaherty is taking the mound for the Tigers after re-signing as a free agent this offseason. Here’s the starting nine for manager A.J. Hinch:

  1. Justyn-Henry Malloy, DH
  2. Kerry Carpenter, LF
  3. Riley Greene, CF
  4. Spencer Torkelson, 1B
  5. Colt Keith, 2B
  6. Zach McKinstry, RF
  7. Dillon Dingler, C
  8. Trey Sweeney, SS
  9. Javier Baez, 3B

Chicago is countering with 24-year-old Jonathan Cannon, who pitched five scoreless innings in his start last week against the Angels.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Friday.
