DETROIT – Another big Detroit sports moment, another missed called by the refs.

The final shot attempt in the Pistons-Knicks Game 4 matchup on Sunday was a three pointer from Tim Hardaway Jr., where Knicks forward Josh Hart made contact with him. No foul was called.

A foul would have resulted in three free throws for the Pistons, who were down by one point with seconds left. Instead, time ran out and the Knicks won -- taking a 3-1 series lead heading back to New York on Tuesday.

In the pool report, crew chief David Guthrie told the reporter that a foul should have been called on the shot.

“After postgame review, we observed that Hart makes body contact that is more than marginal to Hardaway Jr. and a foul should have been called,” Guthrie said.

Pistons star Cade Cunningham missed a chance to take the lead with a jump shot prior to the Hardaway play, and the Pistons had a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter before the Knicks stormed back to take the lead.

It’s not the only reason the Pistons lost -- but it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

The Pistons will try to salvage their season on Tuesday, in a win or go home Game 5 at MSG.
