DETROIT – Former University of Michigan star Jake Long has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Long, 31, has played 8 season in the NFL after being drafted first overall in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Long is a native of Lapeer, Michigan. He played offensive line for Miami, St. Louis, Atlanta and Minnesota during his career.
Long played for Lloyd Carr at Michigan - he was named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2006 and 2007.
Long made 4 Pro Bowl teams, starting in 99 of his 104 total games.
