BELLE ISLE, Mich. – Local 4's Jamie Edmonds rode in this year's Slow Roll ahead of the Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle.
Nearly 3,000 riders took a lap around the Raceway on Belle Isle track. The Slow Roll begins in Cadillac Square, continued on Larned Street, East Grand Bouelvard and the bridge to Belle Isle and concluded with a lap around the track.
NTT IndyCar Series drivers Santion Ferrucci and Felix Rosenqvist will wave the green and checkered flags. The Slow Roll began at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

That Slow Roll was amazing!
We started off in the front behind the leaders at Cadillac Square. I would guess 2,000 bikers or more showed up. What a turnout!
The founder of the Slow Roll used a megaphone to alert the thousands of bikers it’s time to roll. INDYCar drivers Santino Ferrucci and Felix Rosenqvist were great sports. They were so into it! They loved the characters riding their bikes. Their favorites were the bikers with music boxes and lights attached.
We rolled down Larned, left on Mt. Elliot, right on Lafayette, right onto Grand and over the bridge to Belle Isle... all with a police escort!
Rolling on the track with professional drivers was interesting. They knew every turn, remembered every divot and every bump. It was such a thrill to ride around that 2.3 mile track before the big races on Belle Isle! Ferrucci and Rosenqvist both say it was a fantastic welcome from Detroit. Now, they’re ready to race. I would say, I’m ready to join another Slow Roll soon!
