Lauren Kostiuk is an award-winning journalist who joined the Local 4 team in April 2025. She spent several years honing her skills in newsrooms across the country before returning home to Metro Detroit.

Prior to Local 4, Lauren reported for WTHR in Indianapolis and WRSP/WCCU in Champaign, Illinois. She earned a reputation for chasing leads, building trust, and nurturing sources -- often leading to breaking major stories and holding people accountable. Her work has led to policy changes, sparked public dialogue, and raised awareness of critical local issues.

Lauren is a five-time Emmy nominee and has been recognized with multiple honors from the Society of Professional Journalists, including first place for ‘daily assignment reporting.’

She is a proud graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where she interned for NBC Network News, gaining early experience at the national level.

Her passion for journalism began at Eisenhower High School in Shelby Township, where she served as editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. In 2014, she was named Michigan High School Journalist of the Year by the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association.

Outside the newsroom, Lauren loves exploring Metro Detroit with her fiancé and their two dogs, discovering hidden gems and staying connected to the heartbeat of the city.

Fun fact: Guy Gordon interviewed her grandpa in 2014 for being the oldest living Detroit Lions player at the time! Here is that story: https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/2014/01/22/oldest-living-detroit-lions-player-talks-about-old-school-football/
