Noelle Friel comes to Local 4 from Louisville, Kentucky where she worked as a weekend evening anchor and weekday reporter for the local NBC affiliate WAVE News. While in Louisville, she helped cover the Kentucky Derby, issues affecting the city including police reform and gun violence, as well as major weather events including tornadoes and historic flooding.
She got her start in broadcast news at NBC 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor, helping to cover the Green Bay Packers and severe winter weather. They call it the frozen tundra for a reason!
Originally from Northwest Indiana, she’s a Hoosier through and through. She graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with bachelor’s degrees in journalism, political science, and Spanish.
With her hometown located near the Indiana-Michigan border, she has always considered Michigan a home away from home and is so excited to continue telling impactful stories in Detroit.
