Dayzia Kelly was just 25 years old when the forklift she was driving early Monday fell on top of her. Her family says she took the job at Metalsa, between 17 Mile and 18 Mile roads near Van Dyke Avenue in Sterling Heights, to make money before going back to nursing school.

Two people were arrested in connection with a Sterling Heights road rage case after they cut off other cars and gave the driver of a minivan the middle finger, causing the vehicles to crash into each other and sparking a shooting, officials said.

A Michigan State Police car was struck Wednesday while a trooper was working at a construction zone in Sterling Heights, according to officials.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights police said 77-year-old Mukades Gishta has been found. Police said Gishta was last seen at about 9 a.m. Wednesday walking on Lancelot Drive toward 17 Mile Road. Gishta is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, about 135 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair. WARREN, Mich. – Residents of a Warren neighborhood are worried about the plan to remove the traffic light on their road as part of the massive Mound Road rebuild project. “You take our street light out and we will never get in or out of our subdivision,” Warren resident Cynthia Allen said. Allen has lived in Warren’s St. Anne subdivision at Mound Road and Arden Avenue for 50 years. Part of the plan for the Mound Road makeover is to remove the traffic light at Arden Avenue and eliminate the cut-through. County road officials said removing the light at Arden Avenue improves traffic flow.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. Police believe a man has barricaded himself inside a business in Sterling Heights. Officers said the man is believed to be inside the Elwood Staffing building on Mound Road between 16 Mile and 17 Mile roads. The man walked into the business and employees said he was acting strangely and wouldnt respond, according to authorities. Police dont know if the man is armed, but theyre assuming the worst, just in case. Southbound Mound Road is closed between 16 Mile and 17 Mile roads.
