The month is to celebrate LGBTQ+ individuals and acknowledge the work that must be done to create a more equitable state for all identities, genders, races, ethnicities and ages.This pride month, we are reminded that the beginning of Pride was not a celebration, but a protest to be seen, heard, treated equally, and allowed to live fully and authentically, Whitmer said. More needs to be done to ensure every Michigander can experience equality and freedom from discrimination, Whitmer said.
