Here is the weather forecast for Metro Detroit.

A rather sizeable storm passed us safely to the south on Monday, with no real impact on our weather. Highs should approach freezing (32 degrees…0 degrees Celsius), with a northwest wind becoming northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Cloudy on Wednesday, with some flurries or light snow developing midday. The snow should easily end well before dawn Thursday, with lows in the mid 20s (-3 degrees Celsius). Mostly cloudy Thursday night, with lows in the mid 20s (-5 to -4 degrees Celsius).

Morning temps are near where our average highs should be in the upper 40s to low 50s as you head out under partly cloudy skies. We will see highs in the low 70s, and the record high in Detroit today is 75° F. So, it’s within reach, and we did set two record high temperatures both weekend days. There will be a little bit of sun filtered through those clouds and highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. But after the morning showers, we should see some midday and/or afternoon sunshine. Clouds gradually break up and move out Tuesday night, with lows in the low 30s (0 degrees Celsius). Mostly sunny on Wednesday, but becoming breezy, with highs rebounding into the low to mid 50s (11 to 12 degrees Celsius). Increasing clouds late Wednesday night, with lows in the upper 30s (3 to 4 degrees Celsius). It’ll become noticeably breezy, with highs near 50 degrees )10 degrees Celsius). And the weather on Election Day looks spectacular (mid 50s…12 to 13 degrees Celsius), so no excuses…get out there and vote!

DETROIT – We are waking up to more rain pouring in from the southwest and Metro Detroit temps in the 40s, falling into the upper 30s briefly. The showers will be mainly south of 10 Mile, but not exclusively, and it looks wet through the morning commute. We will be heading into the 60s, and may flirt with the 70s around Metro Detroit later in the week. After morning showers Wednesday, we should see partly to even mostly sunny skies and highs into the low and middle 60s. It’s a little early to tell, but looking almost two weeks out at Halloween... models show much cooler air and some wet weather for the big holiday ahead.

Summer has arrived, and the risk of summer-like showers and thunderstorms refuses to go away. Skies will be partly cloudy to partly sunny. Sunset is at 8:59 p.m.Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy then partly cloudy. Thursday has a greater chance of consistent and widespread showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front. We may see some morning showers as it moves through, and then daytime temperatures will reach the middle and upper 70s.

West wind at 10 to 15 mph will keep wind chills in the single digits (-13 degrees Celsius). A west wind at 10 to 15 mph will make it feel colder, but nearly as cold as on Friday. Highs soar into the mid 40s (7 degrees Celsius) as we are in full transition mode to a warmer air mass. Highs in the upper 40s (9 degrees Celsius). Highs near 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius).

That morning sunshine around Metro Detroit is filling back in with clouds through the early afternoon as highs settle near 40F. Light snow will likely produce a coating in the Thumb this evening while the rest of us see lighter drizzle closer to Downtown Detroit. A few lake effect snow bands will likely move through parts of Metro Detroit in the afternoon and evening, so we need to watch out for snow squalls. Moderate to heavy snow starts the weekend as we wake up to several inches on the ground. Saturday afternoon rain will likely turn back to snow late Saturday and early Sunday with another inch or so possible.

It’s cool and dry as you head out and about with temps in the upper 20s to low 30s and a light breeze which keeps wind chills under control. We will see some morning sunshine but clouds will be filling in and rain chances begin through the mid to late afternoon. Thursday forecastIt will be a dry Thursday around Metro Detroit but the clouds and cool air will linger as temps dip into the upper 20s overnight, and then only warm into the lower 30s at best in the afternoon. The warm front means highs will hit the upper 40s and a lot of lower 50s with winds SSW 10-20 mph gusting 25-35 mph at times today. Showers should taper off around 8 or 9 p.m. tonight and we expect a shot of cooler air to follow later tonight and overnight. Yes, we will get some brief lulls in the action which we hope will allow Metro Detroit temperatures to land near 50°F, but keep the umbrella handy as more waves of rain keep coming. Halloween forecastWe’re still in the thick of the rain on Halloween, Thursday but the most recent data we’re tracking gives some hope to somewhat dry conditions tomorrow morning. Friday forecastCold breezes will howl overnight into Friday morning and any the rain and snow will be gone by sunrise Friday. The winds will drag moisture from Lake Michigan and bring a few afternoon snow showers Saturday with highs only in the lower or mid 40s. It will be dry, but chilly on Sunday with partly sunny skies after sub-freezing lows warming into those low to mid 40s once again.
