DETROIT – A 32-year-old woman was fatally shot overnight at a home on Strasburg Street in Detroit. Police blocked the street early Thursday morning in the neighborhood near 8 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway. Detroit police said one person is in custody in connection to this shooting. No other information is available at this time.

Road work on I-75 is resuming in Oakland County starting Friday and will close all freeway lanes between I-696 and Eight Mile Road over the weekend. When I-75 lanes reopen on March 1, only two lanes will be open in each direction from just south of Eight Mile Road to just north of 13 Mile Road, officials said. AdDuring the weekend road closure, I-75 traffic will be rerouted to the following:Northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured west on Eight Mile Road to northbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound I-696 back to northbound I-75, andSouthbound I-75 traffic will be detoured to westbound I-696 to southbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound Eight Mile Road back to southbound I-75. After the weekend closures, some lane and ramp closures will continue through the 2021 construction season in connection with the I-75 road work. Also after March 1, all southbound I-75 traffic will be shifted onto northbound lanes near 13 Mile Road to allow for crews to rebuild the southbound I-75 bridge over 13 Mile Road, officials said.

Police chased the suspected shooters, who were in a Hellcat Dodge Charger, until the vehicle hit a utility pole. Authorities from Warren, Eastpointe and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the chase, which discontinued at one point.

FERNDALE, Mich. – A police chase that started in Hazel Park ended with a violent crash in Ferndale on Friday. A white Hyundai Sonata was pulled over by police in Hazel Park for a traffic violation. The crash ended on the Ferndale side of 8 Mile Road, not far from the State Fairgrounds in Detroit. After the crash a man ran across the street and was taken into custody. His passenger ran further into Ferndale and is still at large.

DETROIT – Police said an armed man robbed a Dollar Tree store in Detroit and sexually assaulted two female employees. The incident happened Monday night at a store on Van Dyke Avenue and Eight Mile Road, according to Detroit police. DETROIT – Police said an armed man robbed a Detroit dollar store and sexually assaulted two female employees. The incident happened at a Dollar Tree store on Van Dyke Avenue and Eight Mile Road on Monday night, according to Detroit police. “All of these places are robbed on a regular basis.”Police said the suspect forced the two victims to the back office. I felt really, really bad because this just doesn’t make any sense to me,” the resident said. Police said the suspect is a Black man who is believed to be around 5 feet, 5 inches tall.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:20 a.m. Monday to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) just north of 8 Mile Road after the report of a shooting in Detroit. There had been a shooting that police believe happened on 7 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway. The victim fled the area after being shot, entered northbound Southfield Freeway but came to a rest on the freeway, blocking the left northbound lane just north of 8 Mile Road. Another vehicle that was not involved in the shooting rear-ended the shooting victim’s vehicle. State police said the shooting victim fled the crash scene on foot and was located by Southfield police.

DETROIT – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on 8 Mile Road in northwest Detroit on Monday. The crash happened in the 7500 block of West 8 Mile Road. Police said a man from Warren was driving a red Chevrolet Cobalt was killed in the crash. The Warren man was driving eastbound on 8 Mile Road, possibly at a high rate of speed, when he got into a crash with the man driving a blue Chrysler, police said. The Warren man’s vehicle struck a building, causing a gas main leak and a water main leak.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Police are investigating after a road worker was struck and killed on eastbound I-94 near 9 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores on Monday. Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the male worker fled the scene after the crash. The worker was near an orange road service vehicle. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 313-237-2450. The freeway is closed at 8 Mile Road.

DETROIT – A 49-year-old man was found fatally shot in Detroit around 4 a.m. Sunday near 8 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. The motive surrounding the shooting is still unknown and under investigation. DETROIT A homicide investigation is underway at the Cranbrook House Motel in Detroit after a man was shot and killed. Police said multiple shots were fired outside the motel around 7 p.m. on Thursday. The motel is located at James Couzens and 8 Mile Road. Police said the suspect fled the scene in a 2006 gray Acura. DETROIT Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday at 1:55 p.m. in Detroit. The crash happened in the area of 8 Mile Road and Cherrylawn Street. A 29-year-old man was driving a Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed eastbound on 8 Mile Road when he collided into a 63-year-old woman driving a white Ford Escape. The driver of the Ford was taken to a local hospital and also listed in critical condition. Southbound I-75 traffic in Oakland County will begin shifting to newly constructed lanes on Thursday evening. Southbound I-75 traffic has been sharing the northbound side of the freeway between Adams and 13 Mile roads due to road and bridge reconstruction. Beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, one lane will be closed on southbound I-75 between Adams and 13 Mile roads to prepare for the switch. Officials say that southbound I-75 traffic will be utilizing the newly constructed southbound lanes by 5 a.m. on Friday. Officials say there will be two lanes open for both directions on I-75 between 8 Mile and Adams roads during Labor Day weekend.

DETROIT – Detroit police said a 14-year-old boy fatally shot his mother’s 38-year-old boyfriend early Friday morning because the boyfriend was assaulting his mother. Witnesses said there was chaos in front of the teen’s home at 1 a.m. on Friday. The boyfriend is accused of viciously beating the teen’s mother. Police said the teen grabbed a gun and fired multiple times, killing the 38-year-old. Police said he has been released to the custody of his mother pending the results of the investigation.

Police said an unidentified man approached a woman outside a BP gas station at 4125 W 8 Mile Road, near the intersection of 8 Mile Road and Livernois Avenue on July 30 at 9:15 a.m. The man pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the keys to her car, police said. The suspect pointed a gun at the other person’s head and demanded his car keys. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black face mask.

DETROIT Police are seeking assistance to identify and locate a driver wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on Detroits west side on the night of Tuesday, June 16. A 22-year-old man was struck during the shooting and taken to the hospital, where police say he died. A 23-year-old man and 41-year-old man were also present in the vehicle. ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a stabbing at a Royal Oak Township hotel that left a man in serious condition Saturday morning. According to a tweet from MSP Metro Detroit, around 6 a.m. 49-year-old man was stabbed during an argument with an individual in the third-floor hallway of the Baymont by Wyndham hotel. LIVONIA, Mich. A 46-year-old Livonia woman faces a disturbing the peace charge after getting into an altercation with a fellow grocery store shopper June 13 in the parking lot outside the Kroger store on 8 Mile Road. The Wayne County Prosecutors Office said Paula Marie Gearin intentionally blocked another female shoppers car so that the shopper was not able to leave the grocery store parking lot. According to the Prosecutors Office, it was about 4 p.m that day when the defendant was in the grocery store with a child. While in the store, she had a verbal exchange with another female shopper who was with her children, too. Livonia police officers arrived and spoke with both parties and the complainant filed a police report, reads a statement from the Prosecutors Office.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police shut down northbound Southfield Freeway between 7 Mile and 8 Mile roads after a suspected shooting on the freeway early Thursday morning. Traffic update: This stretch of the northbound side of freeway was closed for an investigation Thursday. Police said he thought it was a drunk driver, so he backed off the vehicle. Once he arrived at his destination, he found what he thought was a bullet hole in his vehicle, police said. The man tried to file the report with the Southfield Police Department, but was directed to make the report with state police.

DETROIT Police are investigating a deadly shooting on I-75 south of 8 Mile Road in Detroit. The shooting happened at 3 a.m. Monday morning. The 37-year-old woman was shot and died from her injuries. DETROIT – Black Lives Matter marches continue across Metro Detroit on Saturday more than one month after a Minneapolis policeman killed George Floyd. Some protesters are marching all the way from Livonia to Lansing this weekend to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement amid national unrest. The group plans to stop in Brighton on Saturday night and Okemos on Sunday night, then continue their march to Lansing on Monday. The distance from Livonia to Lansing is just under 80 miles. We’re hoping we spark a change for the Black Lives Matter movement.”The group will hold a demonstration at the Michigan State Capitol at 10 a.m. on Monday.

DETROIT Police are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another at a gas station on Monday night. Detroit police say at around 10:55 p.m. a 22-year-old man was pumping gas in a 2001 black Dodge Magnum in the 17700 block of West 8 Mile Road when three to four men pulled up in a dark-colored Chevrolet Impala and fired shots at the man. Police say a second man, 41, was also injured during the incident and transported to the hospital. Police described the suspected shooters as Black men. The status of the suspects and their whereabouts following the incident were not announced.

DETROIT – Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the location of a missing Detroit woman. Krista Daniel, 42, was last seen on April 22 around 7:45 p.m. in the area of 8 Mile Road and Hawthorne Street. According to her family, Daniel met a family friend at Olar’s Party Store on 8 Mile Road near the I-75 service drive shortly after 7:20 p.m. Krista was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, brown boots and teal colored winter coat, officials said. DETROIT – Police said an 8-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man were shot on Detroit’s east side at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. It happened in the parking lot of the Belmont Shopping Center in the area of 8 Mile Road and Dequindre, according to officials. The 8-year-old boy was a passenger in the victim’s vehicle and was also struck. A 31-year-old passenger of the GMC Arcadia allegedly got into a verbal argument with the suspect, according to police. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20′s with a dark complexion and small dreads.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. A 1-year-old boy was killed in a crash that happened on eastbound I-94 just north of 8 Mile Road Friday, according to Michigan State Police. Police say the child was traveling in a Ram with his father who was driving the truck when it left the roadway and struck the median wall. When the Ram struck the median, the child was ejected from the vehicle. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are still investigating the crash.

DETROIT Michigan State Police (MSP) have issued an endangered missing advisory for a missing Detroit woman. Anita Randall, 64, was last seen at her home near 8 Mile Road and Wyoming Avenue. Randall is described as a white woman who is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has short gray hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light red hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black shoes with white bottoms. DETROIT – Krista Daniel, 42, has been missing since Wednesday. Krista was last seen in the area of 8 Mile Road and I-75 Service Drive. She is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with a mole on her left eyebrow, a scar on her right arm and the name Charlie tattooed on her ankle. Krista was last seen wearing a teal colored winter coat and blue jeans, officials said. DETROIT – A well-known hair stylist was found dead after an assault overnight at JZ Motel and Suites on 8 Mile Road in Detroit. UPDATE: Popular hairstylist from Bloomfield Township killed inside Detroit motel, police saySources said the victim checked into the motel about two hours before the assault. Sources also tell Local 4 that a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection to the assault. The victim, identified as 56-year-old Bashar Kallabat, was a well-known hair stylist in the area. DETROIT – A 56-year-old man is dead after an assault overnight at JZ Motel and Suites on 8 Mile Road in Detroit. Sources said the victim checked into the motel about two hours before the assault. OAK PARK, Mich. – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night in Oak Park. Police said the driver was turning when she struck the pedestrian just before 7:30 p.m. at 8 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. However, a second vehicle also hit the man, killing him. Police are trying to find the driver of that second vehicle but have not released any information on what type of vehicle he or she was driving. OAK PARK, Mich. – Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in Oak Park on Tuesday night. It happened at 8 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. Police said the driver was heading south, turning right on 8 Mile Road when they struck and killed a young man. The driver pulled their vehicle into a nearby gas station and stayed to speak with police officers.

DETROIT – Two men were arrested Tuesday morning after a police chase that ended in a rollover crash along Ryan Road just south of 8 Mile Road in Detroit. The men, both 27 years old, were caught in a home invasion when neighbors called police. They took off in a vehicle and police followed. The suspects ended up crashing the vehicle into a pole on Ryan Road just south of 8 Mile Road. Somehow no one was seriously injured in the rollover crash.

Monday night becomes snowy and slippery, especially overnight. Sunshine arrives New Year’s Day, and higher temps come back as early as the day after. Snow will be scattered before midnight then more wide spread afterward and by early Tuesday morning. A half inch to 1 inch of snow is likely south of 8 Mile Road, including Detroit. By New Year’s Eve night, Tuesday night, snow leaves and it gets colder.

DETROIT - Police said a person has died after a high-speed motorcycle crash on Detroit's east side. Surveillance video shows the moment the motorcycle slammed into a car on 8 Mile Road and Hamburg Street on Monday evening. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver said there was nothing he could do; he is cooperating with police. The crash is still under investigation.

FERNDALE, Mich. - A car struck a railroad bridge overpass Tuesday morning along westbound 8 Mile Road between John R and Woodward Avenue. Westbound 8 Mile Road is now closed at John R and is expected to remain closed for several hours this morning while officers are conducting a crash investigation. FERNDALE, Mich. - A car struck a railroad bridge overpass Tuesday morning along westbound 8 Mile Road between John R and Woodward Avenue. Several lanes of westbound 8 Mile Road were blocked by police. Police are expected to close westbound 8 Mile Road at John R for several hours this morning while conducting a crash investigation. DETROIT - The Penthouse strip club on 8 Mile Road in Detroit is being forced to shut down for one year after allegations of prostitution. The city said it found evidence of soliciting prostitution at the club. A judge ruled the club needs to be shut down for at least a year and everything inside the building must be sold. Starting Saturday, crews will replace the current southbound I-75 right-lane closure with a continuous left-lane closure in both directions. The continuous I-75 single-lane closures will occur between 8 Mile and 13 Mile roads. Ongoing work will allow for a traffic shift next spring and is expected to wrap up in late October. This will allow for the rebuilding of the northbound lanes from 8 Mile Road to I-696, along with all northbound ramps, retaining walls and portions of the northbound service drive.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. - A stretch of eastbound I-696 in Macomb County will be closed this weekend for roadwork. The freeway will be closed from I-75 to I-94 from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will be using large equipment to repair sewer pipes so the road will properly drain. There will be one local lane open from I-75 to Mound Road for access to local businesses and residences only. The detour is southbound I-75 to eastbound 8 Mile Road to I-94.

DETROIT - An eight day manhunt has come to an end as police arrest the man facing charges in the deadly beating of a Berkley man. Davis is charged with open murder in connection with the fatal beating of Tyler Jordan Wingate, 24. Lawrence James Davis, 23. FERNDALE, Mich. - A serious crash Friday morning on 8 Mile Road has left a woman in critical condition. The westbound lanes of 8 Mile Road had to be closed at Woodward Avenue. A Chevrolet Trailblazer rolled over after being hit by a Hyundai sedan going at a high rate of speed. Police said the Hyundai was travelin at more than 80 miles per hour on the westbound side of 8 Mile Road. A vehicle rolled over during a crash July 26, 2019 on 8 Mile Road.

Southbound I-275 has reopened to traffic at 8 Mile Road after it was closed Friday morning due to a crash. Traffic is now getting through in the southbound lanes again.
