Season 19 of “America’s Got Talent” premieres tonight

The snowy Michigan weather is making a lot of us miss the sunlight. Well, thanks to the Lightwire Theater Company, the light will be brought to us. That’s right, the America’s Got Talent stars are coming to Detroit with their show titled “The Ugly Duckling.”

We’ve seen the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) rise to the top during their appearance on “America’s Got Talent”, and with many new opportunities that have opened up for them since then. Now the choir is returning to the national stage.

The Oxford High School graduate who wowed the judges on America’s Got Talent is continuing to have success but on a different stage.

Ava Swiss, an 18-year-old Oxford High School graduate, will be competing live on America’s Got Talent Tuesday night.

America, it’s now up to you! The live shows for “America’s Got Talent” starts on Tuesday and judge Howie Mandel says they have the “cream of the crop.”

DETROIT – The children of the Detroit Youth Choir have captured the hearts of millions on “America’s Got Talent” -- and now they have the attention of a production company who wants to highlight their journey. Following the Detroit Youth Choir’s run on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent," a production company is interested in portraying the group’s rise to fame in a new documentary TV series, or docu-series. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the talented performers of the Detroit Youth Choir have continued to safely rehearse. Unfortunately, though, the pandemic has directly affected the Detroit Youth Choir family. “The Detroit youth choir has really brought back Motown,” White said.

DETROIT – After the Detroit Youth Choir earned second place on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent (AGT),” the group is on the verge of hitting a new level of fame. Now the group is being considered for a Grammy for their rendition of the song “Glory" -- an Oscar-winning song from the 2014 movie “Selma.”“The production company sent me an email saying, 'Congratulations, you guys are considered for a Grammy for the re-imagination of ‘Glory’," said Anthony White with the Detroit Youth Choir. The season finale of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” begins tonight, Sept. 22 at 8pm on Local 4 with performances from all of the show’s Top 10 finalists, including Alan Silva, Archie Williams, BAD Salsa, Bello Sisters, Brandon Leake, Broken Roots, Cristina Rae, Daneliya Tuleshova, Kenadi Dodds and Roberta Battaglia. On Wednesday at 8pm on Local 4, catch the countdown to the finale. The Detroit Youth Choir, our local finalist from last season, will perform too! The season 15 winner will be crowned at the conclusion of the program on Wednesday night. Remember, the finale performances begin tonight at 8pm, the countdown starts Wednesday at 8pm, and the finale with the winner announcement is at 9pm on Local 4.

Novi – Are you talented? The NBC show, “America’s Got Talent” is in search of their next big star and you could be it! People are flocking to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi to audition for the show. After registering, hopefuls are led to the holding room where everyone practices and prepares as they wait for their auditions.
