Democratic leadership did not say Wednesday how the House would act on the impeachment resolution. Green has dismissed calls from within his party to hold off on the resolution, which he introduced Tuesday evening, arguing that impeachment should follow Tuesday's House vote that condemned the President's racist tweets. Democrats have been wrestling with the question of impeachment since taking control of the House, and now more than a third of House Democrats publicly support opening an impeachment inquiry. He noted that his impeachment resolution is not connected to Mueller or the findings of his investigation.

Al Green of Texas on Tuesday introduced his articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, which will force the House to take up the measure later this week. The House could vote to table, or kill, the resolution, but that would in effect put lawmakers on the record about impeachment. Green has previously introduced privileged resolutions forcing a floor vote on impeachment in December 2017 and January 2018. We will just have to deal with that," said Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos, the head of the House Democratic campaign arm. Green isn't the only one pushing for additional action following Tuesday's House vote in response to Trump's tweets.
