Scary movies are always a great way to get into the Halloween spirit, but it’s really the music that makes the hairs on your arm stand on end. One man is making a spooky soundtrack and Uniquely Detroit photojournalist Alex Atwell showed off his skills and the history behind his sounds. Slasher Dave has always been obsessed with music and scary music, now he creates the sounds and music with a special machine that helps him make the ultimate eerie soundtrack. DETROIT – Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Denny McLain has countless stories to tell after his career, and a whole lot of memorabilia to go with them. McLain spent eight seasons with the Tigers from 1963-1970. He racked up 1,150 strikeouts across 1,593 innings in 227 games for the Tigers, posting a 3.13 ERA and 1.112 WHIP. He won back-to-back Cy Young awards in 1968 and 1969, played in three all-star games and was named the 1968 American League MVP. Now, McLain has decided it’s time to let some of the memorabilia go in an estate sale.

LAPEER, Mich. A boy in Lapeer came up with a fun idea to help raise money for the local animal shelter. He loves to draw and figured he could sell his art and donate the money. His goal was to raise $24. Photojournalist Alex Atwell found out he raised a lot more than his original goal. You can watch the full story in the video posted above.

Imagine owning a record so rare and so unique as the city of Detroit! That is what happened to people at Melodies and Memories in Eastpointe. Back in 2018 the record store found a unique record that is considered the holy grail of records from Detroits Motown label. The owner of Melodies and Memories, Denise Zieja, spoke to photojournalist Alex Atwell about how she found this holy grail of records and revealed the famous Detroiter she sold it to. Today we took a trip back to when photographer Alex Atwell took us to a spot thats Uniquely Detroit. The museum is called Dabls Mbad African Bead Museum. We have one goal which was to expose the culture of African people to the people of Detroit, said owner Olayami Dabls. Some of the items in the museum are extremely rare. DETROIT – Coronavirus has left the streets of Downtown Detroit eerily quiet and empty. With most businesses shut down and a “stay-at-home” order in effect for Michigan, many downtown areas are at a standstill. DETROIT – Back in the 1970s and 80s - the roller rink was the place to be. There are several roller rinks still operating around Metro Detroit these days. Uniquely Detroit's Alex Atwell takes us inside Detroit RollerCade - the oldest black-owned roller skating rink in the city and possibly the country.
