The statue of a Tuskegee Airman that was stolen from Detroit’s Rouge Park on Wednesday has been recovered.

Detroit police are investigating after a Tuskegee Airman statue was stolen in Rouge Park.

The Detroit Police Department is investigating an apparent theft of a recently installed statue in Rouge Park honoring the late Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson, a Tuskegee Airman who flew missions in World War II.

Alexander Jefferson, who served with the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, has died.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Jefferson was one of the first Tuskegee Airmen escorting bombers in World War II.
