A Detroit Inspector Generals investigation found Wiley abused her authority when she ordered those emails to be deleted. The city said it is complying fully with the search warrant. The report found that Chief of Staff Alexis Wiley, the chief development officer and the deputy chief development officer abused their power in ordering to have the emails deleted. The OIC investigation involved Hassan's nonprofit organization, Make Your Date, and the city's support of the organization. Duggan said Wiley was trying to protect his staff by ordering the emails to be deleted. He said his staff tried to release the emails in advance of the OIG report, but the OIG asked them not to do so.

Tonisha Woods lives on the east side, and she said there aren't many places or programs for her two boys to attend in the summer. "I think it's only one recreation center on the east side of Detroit that kids go to," Knox said. Enter the city of Detroit and its new idea: to offer summer activity centers inside churches and nonprofits. Churches and nonprofits that are interested in the program can attend an informational workshop on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. at Northwest Activities Center.
