Detroit native contributes towards music history

The festival was created 26 years ago by Community Leaning Post founder Lucille Hall Porter as a way to recognize and celebrate local Black businesses and business leaders.

Singer Alise King caught Aretha Franklin's attention while performing on "Live In The D" back in 2017.

Singers across the area are coming together this Labor Day weekend to make sure The Beat Goes On. That is the title of the event that is taking place of the Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats and Eats this year. The Beat Goes On will also support musicians who have been hit hard financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are links where people can donate to musicians, like King, who dont have work right now due to the pandemic. Watch the video above to learn all the details about The Beat Goes On.

For Music Monday we welcomed back a singer who is known for her powerful voice. Alise King will be at the Inkster Music Festival, which features Debarge, Deniece Williams and Raydio.
