Kim Godwin is out as ABC News president after three years as the first Black woman to lead a television network news division.
A network executive, speaking Thursday on condition of anonymity because it was a personnel issue, said the woman is no longer employed at CBS News. A person at ABC familiar with the matter who also spoke on condition of anonymity for the same reason said ABC News informed CBS that the woman had access to the tape. It's not clear if the woman leaked the tape to the conservative website Project Veritas or to someone else who may have done so. Project Veritas has not identified its source. Robach's comments raised questions about ABC's commitment to airing a tough story about sexual misconduct.
ABC News anchor Amy Robach said in a newly surfaced video that the network quashed reporting that would have exposed the Jeffrey Epstein story three years ago. The footage, allegedly recorded in August, shows Robach on a hot mic expressing frustration that ABC refused to air an interview she conducted with key Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Guiffre. Ive had this interview with Virginia Roberts, Robach said in the video. The interview itself, while I was disappointed it didnt air, didnt meet our standards. Convicted sex offender and billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell on Aug. 10 while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking underage girls.
