They both spoke to Russell about their roles, which was especially meaningful for Ross whose mother, the legendary Diana Ross, played Billie Holiday in “Lady Sing the Blues”. Greg Russell gave the movie four our of five reels. Something else to check out this weekend is the Netflix series “Amend.” The series stars and is executive produced by Will Smith. Russell plans on watching this movie with his grandchildren and then showing them the famous scene of Jerry dancing with Gene Kelly.

The filmed “Hamilton” performance on Disney+, meanwhile, was eligible in the film categories and picked up two nominations.

Robin Hood and iHeartRadio announced a collaboration Thursday to present “Heroes of New York,” which will air Dec. 1 on television and radio stations in New York. The show will feature musical performances from Mariah Carey, Tony Bennett and Andra Day. Carey will perform a medley, Bennett will sing “Smile” and Day will perform “Silent Night.”Other special guests include Jon Stewart, Kevin Bacon, Mariano Rivera, Michael Strahan, Ryan Seacrest and Tracy Morgan. NEW YORK – “Sesame Street" has always pressed for inclusion. Sesame Workshop — the nonprofit, educational organization behind “Sesame Street” — will later this month air the half-hour anti-racist special "The Power of We” and hopes families will watch together. The special defines racism for younger viewers and shows how it can be hurtful. “Sesame Street,” which last year celebrated its 50th anniversary, has a history of explaining the world to children, tackling everything from foster care to substance abuse. The latest special comes on the heels of “Sesame Street” contributing to “Coming Together: Standing Up To Racism,” a CNN town hall special in June hosted by Van Jones and Erica Hill.
