ANN ARBOR – For many residents, Fuller Park Pool’s reopening this summer restored a sense of normalcy and seasonal tradition, though things felt very different due to the coronavirus pandemic. To do this, they created a brand-new reservation system for the pool’s very limited lane supply and reconfigured its deck, and it didn’t come without its challenges. From painting the pool deck to indicate family and lap reservation spaces to safety protocols, she feels her team created a safe environment for guests. ANN ARBOR, Mich. Starting Friday, you wont be able to lazily float along Argo Cascades in your tube, according to Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation. The department made an announcement Wednesday afternoon that tubing will no longer be permitted in the Argo Cascades section of the Huron River, which wraps around the northeast part of downtown Ann Arbor. The decision was made to support ordinances and orders made by the City of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County Health Department. The City of Ann Arbor ordinance, effective as of Monday, Aug. 24, limited outdoor social gatherings to 25 people and indoor gatherings to 10. But individuals with their own tubes continue to use the Argo Cascades creating crowds that are not consistent with the current orders.Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation staff will work with Ann Arbor Police Department to enforce the new ordinance.

ANN ARBOR Dont be alarmed if you see several goats grazing in Gallup Park over the next few weeks. Goats eat pretty much every green plant in sight, including invasive species like buckthorn and honeysuckle and even poison ivy -- dont worry, theyre not allergic. After last years successful pilot project, the goats from Twin Willow Ranch of Milan were brought back on Thursday to clear out invasive shrubbery and overgrowth. This is a great way to help promote native plants in our parks while, at the same time, decreasing the hours we spend on removing invasive brush," Parks and Recreation Maintenance Services Deputy Manager Scott Spooner said in a statement last season. Everything would have to be removed by cutting and pulling, and the goats enable us to use that labor in other ways."

Full moon night paddles at Gallup Park will take place once a month as the full moon rises from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. This years dates are: July 10, July 31 and Aug. 21.
